Founded in Sarasota, Florida
Senior Home Companions was first founded in Sarasota, Florida in 1992 as a peer program to encourage active lives for aging adults and those with mobility and health challenges. Inspired by her grandmother’s struggles adapting to life in a nursing facility, Judy Cuppy’s program strove to pair peer caregivers with older adults to allow them to maintain an independent and comfortable life at home.
Judy’s sister, Gloria Scott, later founded a sister organization in Indianapolis when seeking in-home care for their mother. Both locations were eventually acquired by current Senior Home Companions President David Morgan after he experienced their high level of care first-hand which allowed his grandparents to remain comfortably in their own home. And we are proud to continue providing non-medical companion care for both Hoosiers and Floridians over the past 25 years.
Multiple Florida Locations
Our affiliate caregivers serve clients and families throughout Southwest and Central Florida. Our locations include the original Sarasota launch site, as well as Fort Myers, Naples, Bonita Springs and The Villages (Marion, Sumter and Lake Counties). In addition to visiting clients in their homes, our Florida elder care companions can also provide personalized service and non-medical assistance to older adults living in retirement centers, rehabilitation facilities and assisted living facilities.
