Our New Caregiver Ambassador of Month Program

May 10, 2021

At Senior Home Companions, we are dedicated to serving our clients and their families with integrity, effectiveness and compassion. From our internal administration team to our caregivers who work directly with clients, we are passionate about serving the older adults in our community. As part of a 2021 strategy to further caregiver engagement, we are excited to announce an update to our Caregiver Ambassador of the Month program that both celebrates recipients and supports local nonprofits.

A Formal Selection of Caregiver Ambassadors

Although our Caregiver of the Month program has been around for some time, we recently sought to add more formality to the nomination process with a centralized nomination form and in-house selection committee. “There was even buzz when I chose the selection committee,” said Nicole Bieker, HR Manager. “It was showing an internal employee that they are valued for their opinion, and it has been so fun to discuss the nominations together.”

The program was also renamed to Caregiver Ambassador of the Month. Nicole explained, “This program puts our caregivers in the spotlight to thank them for the countless hours they have dedicated to our company and clients. It also allows us to take it to the next level with career development opportunities.” Our hope is that the selected Caregiver Ambassadors can set the bar as future mentors to new caregivers, with our 2020 Caregiver Ambassador of the Year even participating in an upcoming training panel for fellow staff.

Caregiver Ambassadors Supporting our Community

Another new feature of the program is that each recipient has the opportunity to choose one of our local nonprofit partners to have a donation made in their name. These charitable partners are all strategic connections within the Central Indiana community that align with our mission in the senior care industry. “Some of the organizations were long-standing partners,” said Nicole. “And some had internal employees involved as volunteers or on their boards.”

So far, our Caregiver Ambassadors have been thrilled to select a local nonprofit that aligns with their passions and personal mission, and each of our four partners have been supported.

Who can Nominate a Caregiver Ambassador?

Caregiver Ambassadors can be nominated by internal staff, fellow caregivers, clients and families. Any caregiver that is in active status with either Senior Home Companions (Florida or Indiana), Story Cottage or Angels Senior Home Solutions can be nominated. We are seeking nominees who display their knowledge of the industry, a masterful demonstration of company values and serve as a positive role model for fellow caregivers.

Nominating and celebrating Caregiver Ambassadors has become an authentic passion among the team at Senior Home Companions with the new updates to our program. “I believe in recognition and lifting people up to thank them for a job well done,” said Nicole. “To share with each of the recipients and nominees that someone took the time to write about them, and the selection committee took the time to review and discuss their nomination… it’s incredible.”
